   18,4 x 12,4 cm. xii + 258 pp. + 70 pp. Original decorated green buckram. Title and copyright pages are not dated. Author's name appears as "Olive Schreiner (Ralph Iron)" on the title page. Published with the preface to the Second Edition from 1891. Also bound in are the first six short stories from the authors collection of ethereal allegories, DREAMS (1890). Presumably one of several American piracies published in the 1890s. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Isak Dinesen wrote an introduction to an 1961-edition. Ownership inscription in pencil by Danish art critic and author Poul Borum on Ffep.
